MEMORIES DOWN THE LANE! AN ARTICLE FOR MY SCHOOL MAGAZINE ON THE OCCASION OF GOLDEN JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS

Walking down the memory lane takes me to the corridors of our school. On getting down from the school bus, I walked through it to my classroom with my backpack and lunch bag. The trees in breeze greeted us.    The well lit, ventilated, clean classrooms with green color windows and doors are evergreen in my thoughts. As the first bell goes, we gathered for the assembly. The assembly was not just a prayer ritual! Each day was special. Monday to Thursday we assembled class wise and on Fridays house wise. We had national flag or school flag hoisting and salutation, Thought for the day, News for the week, quiz etc. After the assembly, walking back to classes through main stairs resembled diverging zipper as boys and girls climbed through the bifurcating stairs. Two or three of us shared a bench and desk depending upon the size. The teachers along with our academics taught us life lessons which have taken us to these heights. Each time when we fell down in the play ground, it instilled hope and courage to face the failures and march towards success. Our talents were exhibited through various celebrations in school campus. In the months of January and February, we celebrated three grand gala events, the republic day, sports meet and the school annual day! The highlight in the republic day celebration was the release of class magazines which has the poetic renditions of all students’ talents. We all gathered with a team spirit. When the winners hold the trophies and shields with pride, we were all motivated but never envied! We celebrated the school annual day as one family. The tableau and the dance performance by the students were a feast to all eyes. We also had the great privilege to be a part of silver jubilee celebrations of our school in 1997!  After all the joy filled dancing moments, the sight of “out of bounds” reminded us of our final exams, for which we appeared with a bouncing heart. We all passed out with flying colors. Many are outstanding in their respective fields holding the fame of our school in incredible heights . May be the school photos I have in my album has faded away but not the school memories that are evergreen in my mind.  On this occasion of Golden Jubilee celebrations of my school, I thank all my beloved teachers and all supporting staffs of kamlavati and wish and pray for the prosperity of our school!

The first time when we went there to look for a rental house for his stay, the beautiful Kamalalaya tank welcomed us.  As it was during pongal holidays, some water sports competitions were held there. Initially thought that for that occasion, they have filled the tank with water but later came to know that it is a perennial water body! Examination and certification of a case for drunkenness

 In the casualty or Emergency Medicine Department, a person may be produced by police with a requisition or memo from a police officer not below the rank of sub inspector of police or with a requisition from magistrate to examine and certify for drunkenness. Drunkenness certificate is written in a serially numbered register in duplicate , original being handed over to the police and duplicate retained in record for future reference. For persons brought for drunkenness certificate AR or MLR entry need not be made if there are no injuries and no history of trauma.  As in any case the person brought for drunkenness certificate need to be registered in casualty OP register with date, time, name, age, sex and brought by whom. Moolakarai to Madurai

Athichanallur Ancient human settlements were along river banks and in coastal region. Probably our ancestors were from Athichanallur settlements along side of river thamirabarani.  In earlier days korkai was one of the capital of Pandya Kingdom and a port city known for its overseas trading. When I searched for the present day korkai on map it is situated well within the land. wondering how it could be a port city during the Pandya Kingdom, surfing the internet I came to know that sea has receaded and due to the geological changes korkai has come well within the land. once it has been a coastal town and the river thamirabarani ended at a place near Thoothukudi into the bay of Bengal and not the present day punnakayal. To my knowledge our ancestors are from moolakarai a small village near Tiruchendur, not so far away from korkai!
